Take a free test

This pathology form is to request a simple test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea. This service is available for people aged 16 years and over. If you are under 16 and want an STI test, visit a doctor or a sexual health clinic.

It is possible to catch an STI if you have unprotected anal, oral or vaginal sex.

Chlamydia and gonorrhoea can infect the rectum, genitals or throat, so if you have had oral or anal sex you may also need a rectal or throat swab. To test for other STIs such as syphilis or HIV you may need a blood test.

If you have a vagina, you need to take a self-obtained lower vaginal swab as this sample gives the best results. Learn how collect this sample.

If you do not have a vagina or are unable/unwilling to take a self-obtained lower vaginal swab you may provide a first void urine sample.

Your test result is confidential and available after 5 working days.

A nurse will contact you by mobile if your test is positive. If you don't hear from us your test result was negative.

If you want to discuss your test result, please call the South Terrace Clinic on 1800 628 909 Monday to Friday during normal working hours.

If you are diagnosed with an STI, it is important to let your sexual partners know.
